Becker was born in Edenton, North Carolina, but has spent her adult life in the northeastern United States.
A graduate of Princeton University and Princeton Theological Seminary, Becker now lives with her husband Peter and three children, Penny, William, and Marilee, in western Connecticut.
Becker has a bi-vocational license with the Evangelical Covenant Church.
She and her family are members of Salem Covenant Church.
